High-Speed Cameras
Lambert Instruments specializes in intensified high-speed cameras. Gated-intensified high-speed cameras and high-speed camera attachments are used for high-speed and low-light level imaging applications where the object itself is emitting light; such as combustion processes (flames and turbines), dynamic phenomena in living cells that emit fluorescence, etc.
High-speed cameras require a higher brightness of the object; the higher the frame rate the shorter the exposure time per frame. In many applications an increase of the illumination can compensate the shorter exposure time per frame. In the cases where the object itself is emitting light at an intensity that is too low for high-speed imaging a dedicated image intensifier is applied to intensify the image before it is projected onto the image sensor of the high-speed camera. The intensified image results in a sensor signal that is typically 10,000 times higher than without image intensifier making it much easier to resolve from the noise. Lambert Instruments applies a 2-stage image intensifier that is fibre-optically coupled to the CMOS image sensor in its HI-CAM camera. Alternatively a 2-stage or multistage image intensifier can be lens-coupled to a high-speed camera for more flexibility.

The Lambert HI-CAM CR, Gated Intensified High-Speed Camera is an intensified high-speed camera that records images up to 100,000 fps. It allows image recording of fast events at high time resolution. At the same time the HI-CAM CR offers single photon detection capability. Fast-moving objects are recorded sharply by shuttering the image intensifier down to 40 ns, optionally 5 ns.
The dual-stage image intensifier is specially designed for the use in high speed cameras; photocathodes with different spectral response from the UV until the near IR are available; enhanced maximum output brightness results in a optimal signal/noise ratio at high frame rate. The intensifier is coupled to the CMOS sensor by using tapered fibre optics that matches the intensifier to the sensor format.

The Lambert II25, High-Speed Camera Attachment - has been designed to be used in combination with a high-speed camera with 2/3 inch image sensor. It will increase the sensitivity of the high-speed camera and allow low light level applications. It can be used at frame rates up to 100,000 fps. An integrated relay lens couples the Lambert image intensifier II25 to the camera for optimal flexibility in high-speed imaging. The dual intensifier offers a high adjustable gain and high output brightness and a 25 mm input diameter for increased sensitivity.
