Intensified CCD Cameras

An Intensified CDD (ICCD) camera is an electronic camera, analogue or digital, equipped with an intensified CCD as image sensor. The sensor uses an image intensifier that is fiber optically coupled to the CCD chip to increase the sensitivity down to single photon level.

An ICCD camera allows image acquisition at very low light levels over a wide range of spectral response and at relatively high speed. Single photons can be detected and discriminated from CCD noise. Ultra high-speed phenomena can be captured by using the image intensifier as a fast shutter (gating).

The Lambert LI²CAM is an ICCD - Intensified CCD camera for scientific and industrial applications. The LI²CAM, ICCD - intensified CCD camera offers high sensitivity down to single photon level combined with speeds up to 15 fps at the full resolution of 1392 x 1040 pixels.

The LI²CAM ICCD - intensified CCD camera is equipped with an image intensifier, fibre optically coupled to the CCD sensor. Depending on the application the LI²CAM ICCD - intensified CCD camera can be equipped with several types of image intensifiers selected for spectral sensitivity, resolution, gain, linearity, gating, type of phosphor, etc. It has an USB2.0 interface and is completely controlled via software. The Lambert Day/Night ICCD - intensified CCD camera is based on a Photonis-DEP XR-5 (or comparable) image intensifier featuring highest sensitivity and resolution. The image intensifier has an 18mm input and is coupled to a 2/3 inch interline transfer CCD image sensor via tapered fiber optics. The camera produces a standard CCIR video signal. The Lambert IFT800 ICCD - intensified CCD camera is a sensitive low light level camera, based on an image intensifier fibre-optically coupled to a frame transfer CCD sensor. Programmable logic is used to implement several modes of operation.

In the standard video mode the IFT800 ICCD - intensified CCD camera acquires images at light levels between 3 microlux and 0.5 lux. This range can be further extended to lower light levels by applying the long time integration mode. At high light levels the dynamic range can be extended to daylight conditions by using an auto-iris lens.Download PDF
