This website is based on a WordPress publishing platform (v2.2). WordPress is the most popular weblog publishing software. However, it is finding increasing use for small and medium-sized business websites.

Unlike most static HTML-based websites, WordPress pages (theme templates) are dynamically loaded with information that is stored in a MySQL database. Adding information and editing is conveniently performed from an administrative panel.

As months and years go by, websites based on static pages become bloated with hundreds of loosely linked pages. Database driven WordPress-based sites are unaffected by the amount of information and load just as fast regardless of the size of the database. Some customization is required to modify a theme for business use.

Server Requirements

Apache server running on Linux
PHP version 4.2 or greater
MySQL version 4.0 or greater
(optional) Apache mod_rewrite module for clean urls
known as Permalinks

Spam Control

Comment Spam is effectively controlled using the Automattic Kismet (Akismet) plugin for WordPress. Email spam is prevented by using a ‘catcha’ requirement on the contact form. Plugin courtesy of Dagon Design.
